One of the biggest strategies we try to help keep is a sense of autonomy and pride. The theory or emotion that you will be essential in a few special way, that you are loved with a special person, that some body is giving you specific interest, these are some of the ego’s really refined secrets. We are attempting to hide our Divine Home and are enjoying each one of these various activities, which be seemingly very upsetting. It is quite gloomy and it surely does not get everywhere, therefore we try to obtain scraps of unique enjoy, interest and acceptance to prop ourselves up.
We function so very hard at getting “better people”, at developing greater intelligence and more skills. We wish to be enjoyed more and become more popular. The entire self-help industry is centered on increasing the self to help you turn into a greater you. As I worked with A Class in Wonders, I could note that there was a concern with heavenly enjoy in my own mind. I recognized this was the ego’s anxiety about dropping itself. The ego is scared to be exposed and being viewed as a puff of nothingness. That is the fear of intimacy. We talk about that fear in associations, which is sometimes projected as anxiety about sexual closeness, but it’s actually an anxiety about dropping our personality, our disguise of individuality.
